New York won the most recent meeting last season 104-95 as an 8-point road favorite, while the Nets were 100-92 winners as 9-point underdogs the last time these teams met up in New York. The Knicks have won 8 of the last 10 games against the Nets since December of 2009 and New York has covered the point spread in their last 3 victories over this team.
The injury report has quite a few names on it for Thursday’s game. New York has center Tyson Chandler (knee) as probable, center Marcus Camby (calf) and guard J.R. Smith (ankle) as questionable, and forward Amare Stoudemire (knee) expected to be out until sometime in December at the earliest. Brooklyn guard Deron Williams (ankle) is probable and should suit up, as should forward Andray Blatche (flu). The Nets have forward Josh Childress (ankle) currently listed as questionable to play against the Knicks.
Brooklyn ended last season with 6 straight losses and covered the point spread just once for that time frame. The offense and defense were both terrible, but they were also battling injuries at the end of the season. New York made the playoffs but offered very little against the Miami Heat while losing in 5 games and score below 70 in 2 of those contests as they were overmatched by the eventual champions.
