The San Francisco 49ers (4-1) have arguably been the best team in the NFL his year, but they’ll be tested against a New York Giants (3-2) team that knocked them out of the playoffs in the NFC Championship Game last year. New York won that game 20-17 as a 2-point road underdog and they’ll again be the road squad as they head into Candlestick Park for Sunday’s 4:25 PM ET matchup.

San Francisco did win 27-20 during the regular season last year as a 4-point home favorite, and they’ll be a 6.5-point favorite when Sunday’s game rolls around. The 49ers have won just once against the Giants in 5 head-to-head meetings since 2005 and 3 of those 5 went under the total. Las Vegas has made the number 45.5 for Sunday’s clash between these two Super Bowl contenders.
New York won the Super Bowl last year but they haven’t much resembled the team that knocked the 49ers out last year. New York’s defense has been far too easy to beat, while their offense has occasionally suffered from turnovers and sloppy play.
San Francisco has scored 27 or more points in all their victories but does have a 13-24 loss against the Minnesota Vikings that proves they are still capable of making bad decisions at times. The 49ers have bested the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Lions, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills while covering the point spread in every victory this year. San Francisco’s defense has been strong while allowing just 3 points over their last 2 games and the 49ers have outscored their foes 79-to-3 during those matchups.
