The Buffalo Bills (0-3) are still looking for their first win of the preseason, but they’ll have to go into Ford Field against the Detroit Lions (1-2) to get a victory on Thursday. Kickoff here is slated for 7:00 PM ET and the total for Thursday’s matchup is set at 38. The home-team Lions are 4-point favorites on the point spread, while NFL bet-tracking websites are showing that Detroit is getting close to 70% of the action on that line.

Starters generally don’t see much game action in week 4 of the preseason, and Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick seems likely to see a series or 2 at most if he even suits up. The Bills just released quarterback Vince Young and signed Tavaris Jackson in his place, so the coaches may give the new signee some playing time to get him acclimated to the offense. Buffalo does have Tyler Thigpen on the roster as well, but the former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has passed for 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions so far in the preseason.
The Lions are unlikely to risk Matthew Stafford at all in this game seeing as he injured his non-throwing hand in Week 3, so expect a heavy dose of backups Shaun Hill and Kellen Moore. The duo has combined for 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions through 2 preseason games with both interceptions being attributed to Moore.
Buffalo head coach Chan Gailey has a record of just 3-8 in the preseason, and that drops to 0-2 in Week 4 games that he just doesn’t seem concerned about winning. Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz is a perfect 3-0 in Week 4 and an impressive 11-4 overall during these exhibition games.
