Miami and Boston met up in the playoffs last year with the Heat eventually advancing in a hard fought 7-game series. The Heat won 3 of 4 games when they were at home in that series, although Boston did win as a 7.5-point road underdog in game 5. The Celtics have covered the point spread in 4 of the last 6 head-to-head meetings against Miami, but the Heat covered in their game 6 and game 7 victories. The total has gone over in 5 of the last 6 games played between these Eastern Conference rivals.

Much has changed since last year’s clash with the most notable move being former Celtics guard and future Hall of Famer Ray Allen signing with the Heat in the offseason. Miami forward LeBron James is listed as probable for this opening night game because of an ankle injury but is fully expected to suit up. Miami center Joel Anthony will miss with a hamstring issue, while Boston center Darko Milicic is questionable because of a wrist injury that has hindered him in the preseason.

The road team has won just 3 of the last 10 games played between the Celtics and the Heat. That being said, Boston has 2 of those 3 victories and was a bigger underdog both times than the 6.5-point spread shows for Tuesday’s game. The winning team has scored over 100 in just 4 of the last 10 matchups.
