The San Francisco 49ers (12-3) can wrap up a first round bye in the playoffs with a win over the St. Louis Rams (2-13) on Sunday, and the NFL betting odds don’t seem to indicate that they’ll run into much resistance in their attempt.
The road-team 49ers are currently favored by either 10.5 or 11 depending on where you place your wager, but they have interestingly been bet down after debuting as 12-point favorites a few days ago.
The total has been bet down to 35.5 after opening up at 36.
These NFC West rivals haven’t been all that competitive lately with the 49ers winning outright in 6 of the last 7 head-to-head meetings, including a 26-0 shutout in San Francisco earlier this year.
That being said, the Rams have managed to cover the point spread in 2 of the last 3 games against the 49ers, including winning 25-17 outright as 2-point favorites the last time the game was played in St. Louis.
The under has been a winner in 4 of the last 6 games played between these teams, including the one earlier this season.
St. Louis has now lost 6 straight games heading into Sunday’s tilt against the 49ers, and they haven’t covered a single point spread during this losing streak.
Points have been at a premium for the Rams lately and 7 of their last 10 games on the year have gone under the total.
San Francisco has 2 recent road losses but still sits at a strong 5-2 when having to travel this year.
The 49ers have covered the point spread in all but 2 games this season and have been one of the best wagers the NFL has to offer.
San Francisco has also been involved in some low-scoring affairs of late and has gone under in 5 of their previous 6 outings.
