The #24 Cincinnati Bearcats (9-3) will meet up with the Vanderbilt Commodores (6-6) in the Liberty Bowl on December 31st, and this will be the first bowl game of the year that ABC has the television rights to.
Despite possessing only a 1-4 record on the road this season, Vanderbilt is actually the 2.5-point Liberty Bowl favorite over a Cincinnati squad that has gone 4-2 away from home this year.
The total sits at 48.5 after having opened up a half point lower at 48.
The Liberty Bowl has been played since 1959 but this will be the first time either of these teams has played in the game.
The last time that Vanderbilt and Cincinnati met up was back in 1994 when the Commodores went on the road to win 34-24 as 6-point favorites.
Vanderbilt was also a 17-7 winner at home the previous year as 7-point favorites. Kickoff in the Liberty Bowl is set for 3:30 PM ET.
Cincinnati has won 8 of their last 10 games but they’ve only covered the point spread in 3 of their last 6 overall.
The Bearcats went over in their last contest before the bowl game but had previously been engaged in some low-scoring affairs that saw them go under in 8 of 9.

Vanderbilt hasn’t been playing well lately and is fairly lucky to get a bowl invite after coming up on the losing end of the scoreboard in 6 of their previous 9 games.
The Commodores have only defeated Wake Forest, Kentucky, and Army during that stretch while losing against Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina.
Vanderbilt has been playing in some high-scoring games this season and has gone over in 6 of their last 7, although the under did occur in their most recent game.
