The 2011 Champ Sports Bowl matchup will pit the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-4) against the Florida State Seminoles (8-4) in a game that could go either way.
Florida State is currently a 3-point favorite for the Champ Sports Bowl even though both teams have matching 3-2 records when away from home this season.
The total opened up at 45 but was quickly bet as high as 47, although 46.5 seems to be the most readily available number currently.
The Seminoles are garnering close to 65% of tracked college football bets on the point spread, yet the line hasn’t shifted at all throughout the week.
Florida State and Notre Dame last met up in 2003 when the Seminoles won 37-0 on the road as 12.5-point favorites.
The Fighting Irish pulled a huge 34-24 road upset in Florida the year before as 11-point underdogs, and it was the 3rd consecutive game that Notre Dame had covered as a double digit underdog against the Seminoles.
Notre Dame enters the postseason off a 14-28 loss against Stanford, but the Fighting Irish had looked strong while winning 8 of 9 previous to the defeat.
Unfortunately for backers of Notre Dame, they have only covered the point spread in 2 of their last 6 overall.
The Fighting Irish have gone under the total in 3 of their last 4, and have only gone over in 4 of their 12 games all season.
The Seminoles have also only gone over in 4 of their 12 games, and it is a bit surprising to see the total in the Champ Sports Bowl bet up with both squads engaging in such low-scoring games.
The Seminoles last 2 losses had them listed as double digit favorites, but they have won 6 of their last 7 games outright heading into the bowl game.
