The 2011 Rose Bowl will be played between the #8 Wisconsin Badgers (11-2) and the #5 Oregon Ducks (11-2) on Monday, January 2nd, and the game looks to be one of the best postseason clashes on the schedule. Oregon will be much closer to home this one, and their 4-1 record on the road easily surpasses the Badgers’ 2-2 mark on the year.
The Ducks opened up as 4.5-point favorites with a total of 72, but they have since been bet up to -6 despite college football bet-tracking websites showing that point spread wagers are split 50/50 between these teams. The high total has plenty to do with the fact that Wisconsin and Oregon have combined to go over the number in 18 of their 26 games this season.

Wisconsin and Oregon last met up in 2001 when the Ducks won 31-28 at home as 13-point favorites. The Badgers were 27-23 winners in Wisconsin the year before but it was the Ducks that covered the point spread as 7-point underdogs. Both of those games went over the total with neither line set above 50.
The Badgers might have won 5 of their last 7 games heading into the Rose Bowl but they’ve only managed to cover the point spread in 2 of those matchups. This will be the first game all season that Wisconsin is an underdog, and they’ve lost both of their showdowns this season in which they were favored by less than 8 points.
Oregon has won 9 of their last 10 this year and is on a 2-game winning streak after losing 35-38 against USC to crush their championship hopes. It’s been 4 games since the Ducks have covered a point spread and this will be only the 3rd time all season that Oregon wasn’t a double digit favorite.
