Let’s take a look at Sunday’s 4:05 PM ET game between the Chicago Bears (7-5) and the Denver Broncos (7-5) and see if we can’t find some interesting statistics and numbers to get an edge.
Currently the NFL odds favor the home-team Broncos at -3.5, while the total sits at 35.5.
Tracked NFL bettors are taking the Broncos at about a 65% ratio, yet the point spread hasn’t budged from its opening line.
The total has been bet under a half point since coming out at 36.
Although the Bears are only a pedestrian 2-3 on the road this season, Denver has an identical 2-3 mark when playing at home.
That being said, these two teams look like they are heading in different directions.
The Bears have dropped 2 straight against the Oakland Raiders and the Chicago Bears since Caleb Hanie replaced the injured Jay Cutler at quarterback, while the Broncos have won 6 of their last 7 games since Tim Tebow took over as the main man in Denver.
One interesting thing to note is that the Broncos have been the underdog in every single matchup during their current 5-game winning streak.
Denver hasn’t won by more than a touchdown over their last 4 games and their margin of victory over their last 3 wins is less than 3 points.
The Broncos have gone under the total in 3 of their last 4 overall.
Chicago has exceeded the Las Vegas total in 4 of their last 5, but the 3-10 loss to the Chiefs last weekend showed the offense still has some issues to work through with the mistake-prone Hanie at the helm.
The Bears had won 5 straight while covering the point spread in every single contest before Cutler went down with a broken thumb.
