Saturday’s 7:30 PM ET game between the Maryland Terrapins (2-7) and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-3) might not one of the top games on the schedule this week, but it has been one of the most bet on.
The home-team Fighting Irish opened as 19-point favorites with a total of 56.5, but much has changed since that happened.
Notre Dame is currently a 20.5-point favorite, while the total has moved up to 57 and 57.5 depending on where you look.
The Terrapins haven’t won a road game this season, and they are in a full-on collapse after starting their year off with a 32-24 win over a Miami Hurricane squad that was playing without much of it’s lineup.
Maryland has toppled Towson as well, but losses to Virginia, Boston College, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Temple, and West Virginia have the Terrapins sitting at just 2-7 on the year against the point spread.
Notre Dame’s losses this year have come against South Florida, Michigan, and USC, despite outgaining their opponents in 2 of those 3 games.
The Fighting Irish hold victories over Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Air Force, Navy, and Wake Forest, and they’ve covered the point spread in 3 of their last 5 overall.
South Bend hasn’t been that much of a home field advantage for Notre Dame, as they are just 3-2 in their home stadium.
The only recent game played between Notre Dame and Maryland happened back in 2002 when the Fighting Irish won 22-0 on the road despite being listed as 1-point underdogs on the point spread.
Notre Dame has seen their recent games go under in 2 of the last 3, while Maryland has followed suit with 5 of their last 7 games this season going under the wagering total.
