The UNLV Rebels (0-0) are on the road for their college football opener against the #10 Wisconsin Badgers (0-0) on Thursday, and the clash is considered one of the best games on the opening day schedule.
The UNLV vs. Wisconsin game will be shown live on ESPN and kickoff is set for 8:00 PM ET.
Although Wisconsin has come out on top in all 3 matchups between these schools since 2004, it is worth noting that UNLV has covered the odds in 4 straight against the Badgers. The under has been a winner in 4 of the last 5 head-to-head clashes, while Wisconsin won 41-21 in the most recent meeting in 2010.
The Las Vegas Hilton shows the college football odds favoring the Badgers at -35.5 with a total of 56.5, while offshore sportsbooks mostly have Wisconsin at -35 with the total a tick lower at 56.
UNLV hasn’t been bet heavily with the odds opening at Wisconsin -30, while neither Vegas nor offshore sportsbooks have a money line up yet which is fairly common with a point spread set this high.
Thursday’s game will mark the season debut of new Wisconsin starting quarterback Russell Wilson, a former North Carolina State starter that has thrown for 76 touchdowns and 26 interceptions over the past 3 seasons.
Despite the offensive potential that Wilson should provide to the Badgers, the total has not seen much movement offshore or in Las Vegas.
One thing about the Badgers is that they generally score plenty of points when listed as the wagering favorite.
20 of their last 27 games have gone over the total when Wisconsin was listed as the favorite on the point spread, while UNLV has also gone over the number in 6 of their last 9 when the sportsbooks consider them the underdogs.
